Ladan Affi received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is Assistant Professor at Zayed University in United Arab Emirates. She has also taught and researched at Vassar College, Université de Djibouti, and Qatar University. Born in Somalia, she has carried out extensive research in Somalia and published in the area of gender and politics in Somalia, piracy off the Horn of Africa; the role of diaspora in Somalia’s development; and conflict and governance within fragile states. She has conducted numerous studies for USAID.
